Air-Gap Workstation Maintenance
Renewal and updates use the same transfer process as first activation: create or download files on one side of the air gap and carry them across using approved media.
Renew the license
- On the workstation, open the application menu License > Renew License….
- Copy the complete renewal request to the connected computer.
- Open Air-Gap > Activate & renew in Vulnotes Manager and choose Renew an install.
- Paste the request and download the returned token.
- Bring the token back and import it in the workstation's renewal window.
The renewal request includes a signed usage report. It does not contain your reports or findings.
Install an update
Download the installer for your operating system from Manager on the connected computer. Only use a release covered by your maintenance. Transfer it to the workstation, close Vulnotes, and install the new version. On Linux, replace the AppImage and launch the new file.
Application data is stored separately from the installer, so replacing the application preserves the database, uploaded files, and activation. Keep a backup before updating. The automatic pre-update database copy is an additional precaution, not a replacement for a backup of all your data and keys.
Move to another computer
Use License > Deactivate / Move this Install… and follow the offline exchange shown by the application. Confirming deactivation stops Vulnotes on the old machine; the reports and files remain there. Transfer the resulting receipt to Deactivate an install in Manager to free the license seat, then select Finish on the old workstation.
Deactivation releases the installation for licensing purposes. It does not move your data. Export the data you need and plan the transfer before deactivating, then activate the destination computer separately.
